With the COVID-19 pandemic continuing we have developed tentative protocols to prevent its spread during the National 4-H Poultry and Egg Conference.

At a minimum, we will follow the rules set by NAILE (North American International Livestock Exposition), the University of Kentucky Cooperative Extension Service, or the Kentucky Fair and Exposition Center (https://kyexpo.org/venue-safe/) whichever is most strict. As a result, masking will be mandatory at all events and contests. This includes during the BBQ presentations, Egg Preparation Demonstrations, Avian bowl contest, and Poultry Judging contest (including oral reasons). Masks will also be mandatory on the tours, including the buses. Masks will also be mandatory for the pizza party, except when eating or drinking.

Special protocols for avian bowl include:

Personnel:

  • On-site personnel will be limited to the National 4-H Poultry and Egg Conference committee members, as well as one official from the University of Louisville.
  • Personnel will be required to wear face masks at all times.
  • Any individual with symptoms of COVID-19 will be prohibited from entering the hall. Symptoms may include fever or chills; cough; shortness of breath; fatigue; muscle or body aches; headache; new loss of taste or smell; sore throat; congestion or runny nose; nausea or vomiting; or diarrhea.

Preventative Measures and Safety Controls:

  • Hall access will be limited to National 4-H Poultry and Egg Conference committee members, contestants, coaches, and registered accompanying family members.
  • Masks will be required at all times following the guidelines set out by NAILE or the University of Kentucky cooperative extension service.
